Summoned By Jesus

A call to go, to be, to become, to grow, to mature…in the Lord

2 – The Elephant in the Room.

Sooo, praise God and hallelujah we’re saved and going to heaven and all is right with the world.

NOT SO FAST…

* As I write this post, evil and demonic forces are rampant in our country and around the world:

Crime

Abortion

Human trafficking

Terrorism

Indoctrination of children

Redefined marriage

Forced inoculations

Open borders

Weaponization of government entities against its citizens

Open and hostile opposition to Christianity

Pastors & youth pastors are leaving the church

Church youth depart from their faith once in college

The number one group departing the church is men

** – So, if God is good, God is love, and we have the right message, what is going on???

Perhaps it is time to bring some things out of the shadows and into the light; time to examine the church and ourselves for missteps.

AW Tozer said that the church has its “fields” and its “rules” for playing the game of religion. A pleasant activity which changes nothing and settles nothing. After the pleasant meetings no one is basically any different.

He further says that “The purpose of the Bible is to bring men to Christ, to make them holy and prepare them for heaven. Any manipulation of the scriptures to make them speak peace to the natural man is evil and can only lead to ruin!!”

For decades now the church has been promoting easy-believism in its effort to improve its image of more ‘nickels, noses and numbers.’ What may have come from well intended beginnings, has evolved into traditional and worldly efforts to appease the senses of non-believers or pew warmers.

In the book of Revelation the risen Lord speaks to the churches about their shortcomings. Among other things, he says:

*He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with me on my throne.

*But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

*Repent

*Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

*Some of you hold to the teachings of Balaam and commit acts of immorality.

*Repent.

*I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel and commit acts of immorality.

*Repent.

*All the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts…

*He who overcomes, and he who keeps my deeds until the end, to him I will give authority.

*You are alive, but you are dead.

*Wake up and strengthen the things that remain.

*Repent.

*He who overcomes shall thus be clothed in white garments… and I will confess his name before my Father.

* I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, in order that no one take your crown.

*He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple.

*Because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

*Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline.

*Repent.

*He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Strong words from our Lord.

Perhaps we have gotten some fleshly and earthly things wrong. If God is all-knowing, all seeing, all powerful, and the Creator of all things, then he didn’t mess up, we did.

Let’s examine a few possibilities…

Only they who have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churched will overcome, and the promises are made to the overcomers.
The following is a cry the Lord put on my heart many years ago…
    Awake!
Awake, you sleeper! Awake! Arise and make yourself ready! It’s time to put aside those childish pursuits and your endless musing with vanities.
Awake, I say! Do you not realize the time in which you are privileged to live? Now more than ever can the sound of the bridegroom’s coming be heard. Surely, He is drawing near. The need to purify yourself has grown greater, for the time allotted has grown shorter. The dark of night has already conquered the eastern horizon as the sun glow fades in the west.
The King had long ago sent out His invitation, in which He proclaims to all, “COME!” Yes, come, and do make haste! Do you not know that if you refuse to comply with the King that His anger will be kindled against you? Yet in His patience and longsuffering He still says, “Come! Come to the greatest of all feasts!
Where there is food, wine, and much song and dance. Joyful dance to celebrate the wedding of all weddings. Come and attend My wedding, come and be part of My bride.” The Bridegroom has long been ready, yet He has patiently waited. He has waited for you! Arise therefore you sleeper!
So much remains for you to do. TODAY you must prepare. Set aside your complacency and strive to mature! Strive to increase your knowledge and grow in your understanding so you might be completely resolved to live your life solely for the King of kings!
Rise up now and cast out reservation and hesitation, these are evil foes that have hindered and killed countless before you. Arise! Answer His call! It is your only reasonable response . . .
“Awake you who sleep, and arise from the dead, for Christ shall give you light. Awake to righteousness and sin not. For some of you have not the intimate knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.”
    (Eph. 6:14, I Cor. 15:34)
