My efforts in these writings, based on the promptings of the Lord, are to call Christians, especially men, into account and action. To grow, to become, to be more Christ-like. As I have said before, some of these words will seem challenging and even combative. But it is my hope and prayer that this deeper dive into the scriptures and searching out the mysteries that are contained within them, will cause many to have a quest for more revelation and understanding. To reinvigorate our relationship with the Lord, to be about His business, to be on the pathway to holiness, and sanctification.
Here are a few scriptures which I believe are important for this discussion (some are paraphrased):
James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to us.
Romans 12:12… Therefore, I urge you brethren by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice.
Joshua 24:15… Choose this day whom you will serve… As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Matthew 7:8… For everyone who asked receives, and he who seeks finds and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Nehemiah 2:18 (d)… Let us start rebuilding.
Romans 18:18… For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed to us.
Matt 6:33… But seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.
2 Tim 3:7…(men) are ever learning (worldly) but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (Godly.)
Matt 7:11…… How much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
James 1: 1-5… Consider it all joy, brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials and temptations of any kind. For your faith produces perseverance.
Rom 9:10…if you declare with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, then you shall be saved. (Notice here that Lordship comes before salvation.)
Let me say here that Lordship is an extremely important concept. It is not easy to attain. It involves hearing the word of God, repentance, submission, reverence, commitment, and perseverance. There are few who find it. The Word of the Lord says we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. And it also says “many are called, but few are chosen.”
More to come…
